Linda Mealey-Lohmann, Esq., Mediator & Arbitrator, Mealey-Lohmann Mediation & Dispute Resolution & ValueSolve ADR, LLC
Linda Mealey-Lohmann is a former employment law litigator (Dorsey & Whitney), but now has her own ADR practice (Mealey-Lohmann Mediation & Dispute Resolution) and works exclusively as a mediator and arbitrator for employment and commercial matters. She has mediated over 350 matters. As part of her private practice, she is also on a number of ADR panels, including as a contract mediator for the EEOC and US Postal Service and a mediator and arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, Better Business Bureau, and the Twin Cities-based ValueSolve ADR, which offers flat-fee ADR services. She is also a frequent volunteer mediator for the MN Department of Human Rights and the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights, the Dispute Resolution Center in St. Paul, and for the Washington County and Ramsey County Conciliation Courts and Housing Court. She is the current Chair of the MSBA ADR Section. In addition, she has taught the MN Rule 114 ADR course at William Mitchell College of Law for 10 years and is a co-author of The MN ADR Handbook-A Guide to Mediation, Arbitration, and Other Processes for Advocates and Neutrals (MN CLE 2011).
Dan Hanson designs programs to protect his clients by managing and reducing their executive risk exposures. He specializes in executive liability lines of insurance, including directors and officer liability (D&O), employment practices liability (EPL), fiduciary liability, professional liability (errors and omissions), and network security/cyber liability insurance. He has worked as the Director of the Management Liability Group since 2007.
Prior to joining the agency, Dan held several underwriting, management and technical positions with St. Paul Companies and Travelers. While at St. Paul Travelers he was the managing director for the public company D&O and professional liability book for the upper Midwest region, where his underwriting team was responsible for more than $60 million in premium.
He is a frequent public speaker on management liability insurance lines, including recent talks to the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Collaborative and Wisconsin RIMs. Dan earned his undergraduate degree in History from Carleton College and his Master of Business Administration in Finance & Accounting from the Carlson School of Management. He also holds the CPCU designation.
John R. Dorgan, Attorney at Law, DORGAN LAW OFFICE
John R. Dorgan has been an attorney for over 33 years, having graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in1981. Since graduating from law school, John has represented homeowners associations and their members in matters involving just about every area of homeowners association law. John’s homeowners association practice includes a wide range of involvement in the following areas: (1) assessment collection matters; (2) construction defect cases; (3) rules enforcement issues; (4) document drafting (and amending); (5) Board/Member disputes; and (6) Transition (from Declarant/Developer to Association) control issues. John also has a broad business litigation practice, from mediations and arbitrations to trials and appeals.
John has been heavily involved in CAI ever since he became an attorney over 33 years ago. He has been a member of the CAI Legislative Action Committee (the “LAC”) for several years, and is currently serving in his second stint as Chair of the LAC. He is also a member of the CAI Community Association Volunteer Leaders Committee. John has also been a member of numerous other CAI committees over the last 33 years and has presented a variety of legal programs at CAI seminars during that time. John was honored to have been selected as the CAI Minnesota Chapter’s “Outstanding Chapter Volunteer” for 2012.
Michael D. Klemm, Attorney - Solfest, Hills & Bauer P.A.
Michael Klemm represents clients in connection with real estate transactions, land use regulation, real estate development and common interest communities. Michael is an MSBA Board Certified Real Property Law Specialist, and he has repeatedly been recognized as a "Rising Star" in real estate law by Mpls.St.Paul Magazine and Twin Cities Business. A significant portion of Michael's law practice is devoted to condominiums, townhomes and master-planned communities. Michael represents developers, homeowners associations and management companies in connection with drafting and amending governing documents, enforcing rules and covenants, and general corporate and management issues. Michael is actively involved in the ongoing development of the Minnesota Common Interest Ownership Act, Minnesota Statutes Chapter 515B, as a member of the MCIOA Committee of the MSBA Real Property Law Section and as a member of the Minnesota Legislative Action Committee of Community Associations Institute. Michael has served as President of the Minnesota Chapter of Community Associations Institute, and he frequently lectures and writes on homeowners association topics.
Nick de Julio, Government Relations Consultant, Ewald Consulting
Nick joined Ewald Consulting in 2007 as a Government and Public Relations assistant, providing important leadership and support to the department as well as directly serving government relations clients. He graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a M.A. in Advocacy and Political Leadership, and a B.A. in Political Science. Before joining Ewald Consulting, Nick worked at the Minnesota House of Representatives as a legislative assistant and has worked on various political campaigns.
Anthony (“Tony”) T. Smith, Founding Partner of Roeder Smith Jadin, PLLC
Tony has been representing plaintiffs for most of his career. His practice focuses on the representation of residential and commercial property owners, condominium and townhome associations, property management companies, and individual homeowners. He has substantial experience in insurance appraisals, insurance coverage, and insurance litigation. He also regularly represents his clients in construction defect litigation against developers, design professionals, general contractors, and subcontractors. He also counsels community associations regarding internal operation and governance.
Tony obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2001. Well-respected by his clients and peers, he was selected as a Minnesota Rising Star from 2007 – 2010 and 2012 – 2014, a distinction awarded to only 2½ % of Minnesota attorneys under the age of 40.
